Frequently Asked Questions
How many sanitary disposal
units do I need?
Most companies provide a unit in each toilet.
However, you may wish to place a unit in just one or some of the toilets, as a guide one unit will cater for 8-10 ladies.
How often should the sanitary
disposal unit be serviced?
Units must be serviced on a regular basis.
Most service companies offer a monthly or fortnightly collection. Monthly collection is generally sufficient depending on
the usage. If you find the unit is full prior to each service, fortnightly services can be introduced.
What size are the sanitary
disposal units?
Standard units are very similar in dimensions
at approximately H 580mm x D 490mm x W 155mm. Most models nowadays are very slimline to fit in the cubicle and are usually
foot pedal operated.
Should only sanitary waste
be placed in the sanitary disposal units?
Yes. Placing other waste into a unit may
cause problems with odours or the unit getting full before it is due for service.
Do I need Duty of Care Documentation?
By law all companies must keep copies of
duty of care and waste transfer documentation.
There maybe a charge for this service.
Do I need to sign a contract?
Many companies work on a minimum of 12
month contracts. The reason for this is the time taken to install the unit and to include your premises in the service schedules.
Some companies

Who owns the sanitary disposal
unit?
Usually the sanitary disposal unit remains
the property of the service company. They will provide a unit that their service people have been trained in servicing so
